Beach day

W.A.L.T- Write with detail

On 12th November, Tuesday DHT went down to the Otaki beach. When we got there we had a tour of the place. When they finished showing us around we started to learn about CPR and practise on a dummy. After that we had morning tea then did a beach clean up for 30mins, that finished then we did a human pyramid then the weetbix competition which I came 2nd in. Chubby bunny was next and it was hard to be honest, I could only fit 10 in my mouth.

Lunch came around and we got changed into togs then we ate, the lifeguards were getting ready to take the IRB (Inflatable rescue boat). We finally went down to the beach and we played a game called beach flag, the aim of the game is you have to lie down until someone says GO!!! Then you have to turn around and run for a flag. When that finished they showed us them using the IRB and plotted one of us out then picked them up. We watched then we went and picked a board that we wanted to use, I chose the knee board.

It was so fun but really salty and I kept on getting pushed under the water by the waves. When I got I went straight to the changing room and had a shower for ages. Everybody was ready so we did a quiz about that day while we ate ice blocks.

R.O.A.R

Why we have R.O.A.R- We have it to remind us of how we should behave.
For Example to be a leader and follow the R.O.A.R

Why is it Important- If we don't have it people Would be really disrespectful and wouldn't do what they were told
For Example We show Respect for one of the others to the class and teacher

Respect - Is doing the the right thing and not bothering others
O.C Pride- Is representing your school by wearing the right uniform
Active learning- Is staying on task and being ready to learn new stuff
Responsibility- Charge your chrome book and have all the gear you need for the class

This week

1 Thing I have learnt this week- I have learnt how to find a rule in Maths

1 Goal I have achieved this Week- Work hard and not get distracted

1 Thing I need to Improve-  I need to Improve on my fitness because I usually sit on the couch all dayImage result for runningImage result for couch

Labour Weekend

On Saturday, Labour weekend I awakened to my mum in my face saying "Wake up, we have to go or we will be late!" I got up and got ready to go to Wellington to do this fun thing at Bunnings, I had to do glitter tattoo's. We got up and left, when we got there we went to our stools and started to get ready. I got ready and went up with my mum to give Cat in the hat a face paint. What fun it was sitting and doing nothing for 4 hours!!!

"What's the time," I yawned in the morning sun light. My family is usually feeling rushed in the morning if we have to go somewhere. We were off to church, church is boring just like usual so I was happy when that ended and we went home. For lunch we had pizza then we saw Shayne drive up to ours, all of a sudden.... "Eden the bunny has gotten out, go catch her." Shayne and I went out to go get her while the others just ate the rest of their lunch then helped us. That was funny watching us all get so close then bunny just sprinting past all 5 of us.

Eventually we caught her and we put her back and went on the swing until Shayne's dad came to pick us up. Off we went to Shayne's house, on the way we stopped at the dairy for some lollies then kept on going. When we finally got to Shayne's house we went on the tram and played "Last to leave the tramp challenge." Well obviously like always with every challenge I......... Lost:( but it was because we were on a yoga mat but as I jumped on it, it blew away. Then we did it again but we had to go inside for dinner so we both lost or both won.

We had dinner and watched Aqua man while eating dinner, when we finished dinner we put on a face mask then went to bed at 2am. In the morning it was raining so we waited for it to stop raining While we did we watched Goose Bumps 2. The movie ended and we went outside and put the hose on the tramp and played in the water. When we were done we payed with slime and had showers. After we had our showers we went and played pie face and ate heaps of whipped cream, it was messy!

That was all fun until we went to pick Blaike Shayne's sister up from her friends soccer game. It all went down hill from there. When we got back we played last to leave the tramp challenge but Blaike hurt Shayne then Shayne hurt Blaike and it all turned into a disaster. Shayne and I got off and played with slime until I had to be dropped off in Levin. We had dinner in the car and swapped over in Levin, I had so much fun. I got home and went straight to bed.

School stuff

1 thing I enjoyed  this week in school- I enjoyed PE doing ultimate Frisbee because it is a really fun game

1 thing I know I need to focus on in class- I need to focus on my maths and working as a group no just by myself.

My goal for next week- My goal is to stay on task and not get distracted by the things around me.

Holidays

On Sunday morning I left my house and went to the Picton ferry, when I got on the ferry Taipari my friend just came up to me and I was like OML. When we got off the ferry I said bye to Taipari and we drove off to Nelson. When we got to Nelson we went to my mums sisters place my auntie and had some dinner there. When we left we went home and unpacked the boat and then went to bed. The next morning we went to a cafe with my auntie and Nana, after a while my friend arrived. When we finished with the cafe we went to the Tahunanui beach cafe to meet some friends. We all decided we wanted to go on the bumper boats but one of us.

When we were done on the boats we went on the hydro slide but Grace my friend didn't, then me and my other friend and her brother went on the slide and had a blast. The next day we dropped my friend off and picked up my other friend. All we did was go to the mall go on the mega slide with my cousins. After all that we went to the movies and was going to watch Dora but it was all booked so instead we watched abominable. When the movie finished we dropped her home and dropped me of at my other friends house. When I got there we were supposed to go to bed but instead we went out to the lounge and went on our phones until 1am. The next morning we took her baby sister to the ducks and went home then to the Saxton stadium and met some of Allira's friends.

When we left we had to take the baby on another walk so we went to another park with her. We dropped her home and went back down to meet the same friends and we stayed at the park for about 3 hours. When we were done we went back home and then went on our phones. My mum came and picked me up and then we went home and the next morning we went to the sounds to my Pops house.Image result for tahunanui nelson

Maths

Today in problem solving we solved a question, this is the question:

Tukutuku panels can be made from wooden rods (kaho) with cross stitches (tuinga), often using many colours.
The kaokao is a traditional tukutuku design that symbolises the strength of a warrior.

Imagine you continued this pattern until there were 8 kaho. How many tuinga would there be?
What if there were18 kaho? What if there were 38 kaho?
Find a way to calculate the number of tuinga needed for any number of kaho

This is one of the ways we figured it out-

July Holidays

On the second week of the holidays I was back with my mum in Otaki and we just stayed here the whole second week of the holidays. Our friends that met at Vinegar hill camp were coming down from Whanganui Phoebe, Tho, Maddie and their mum Ellie. When they arrived it was night time so we just ate dinner and desert and went to bed. Me and Phoebe were sleeping upstairs and we were the only ones up there so we stayed up until midnight. The next morning was very chill all we did was go on our phones and eat breakfast until 11:00 am. At 12:00 am we had some lunch which was pizza and chips then at 2:00 pm went out to town and looked at clothes.

Maddie wanted to get a helix which is a piercing at the top of your ear so we went to Hipsta for kids in Waikanae and got a helix. "Off to get Fish'n'Chips now" said my mum as we drove to the fish'n'chip shop, when we got home we ate food and desert then Phoebe, Maddie and I had a spa then went on our phones, ate skittles then went to sleep. The next morning we ate breakfast and played a game of last card then they went on there way to Pamerston north.

Matariki

                                                         How to find the Matariki

To get to the Matariki cluster you have to find the Mahutonga (southern cross)  then go east untill you find Hinetakurua / Winter maiden (brightest star in our sky). Once you find that you keep on going along untill you come across three dots in a row that is the Tautoru (Orions belt / bottom of a pot) wich will then take us to where we need to go wich is to Te Matakaheru (Stars that make a Triangle shape). Just off of it's shoulder you will see a small cluster of stars and that is the Matariki.

Star names and what they are connected to.

Matariki- Reflection,Hope, our connection with our environment, Gathering of people and the health and well being of people.

Pōhutukawa-  To those who have passed on.

Waitīfresh water bodies and the food sources that are sustained by those waters.

Waitā-  Ocean and the food sources within it.

Waipuna-ā-Rangi- The rain.

Tupuānuku- Everything that grows within the soil to be harvested or gathered for food.

Tupuārangi- Food growing in the Ngahere, up in the trees. Tane's domain.Trees,Birds and berries.

Ururangi- With the winds.

Hiwa-i-te-Rangi- Granting our wishes, and realising our aspirations for the coming year.

Rocket launch 1st try

On May 30th a Thursday afternoon Daniel came in with the rocket launcher to launch our rockets. A couple of of groups went first then our group went, we chose to put 200 grams of water in our bottle and 55 psi. I (Eden) pumped it then Vallerie launched it. None of the groups rockets went to far but they all went very high. Now we are customising them with fins and nose tips.

Why we have teacher strike day

Why did I have a day off on strike day?
I had a day off because Teachers were sorting things out with their job.

2 reasons why teachers striked?
Because they weren't getting paid enough for working after hours.
Because The students had to much work (i think).

Agree or disagree?
I agree because 1. I like a day off school. 2. It is good for teachers to enjoy there job how they like it.

Revolution visit

27th May 2019

Today we had people visit us and they were called THE REVOLUTION. Two messages that I took in were:
You make a living by what you get and you make a life by what you give.😄

When you give it doesn't have to be an object it an just has to make someone happy then you have made a change.😄

I enjoyed it so much and I wish they could come again😄

Capital E

On 14th March on Thursday we went to Wellington for some acts and shows, we went to one in Te papa in the sounding theatre. We went to one in the opera house which was miming and acrobat like stuff and we went to one in Macs Function Centre - Harbour side, it was two people doing some miming.
I'm going to tell you about my favourite one which was the one in Te papa in the sounding theatre, it was called "Troll". We all got comfortable in our seats and we were talking then..... the lights switched of  and the man in the photo started talking telling us a story. He was Otto and he had a grandma living with him called Amma, his sister called Erika and his mum and dad. The story/act is about a boy who notices a new cable but his parents think it's just one he didn't notice, one night he heard scuffling in the walls and scratching . He tells his parents but the just think it's rats or possums. Otto thinks it's something else so he tells his gran and she tells him all about trolls and they turn to stone in the sun so they don't come out at day. She warns him to get rid of the troll before it grows so that the troll doesn't eat him. The story ended with the Gran dead which was sad and the troll full size but turned to stone.

Commemoration day

Commemoration day

On Monday the 11th March it was the commemoration day. Whaea Mahadata started a Karanga while some people came through the gates, when Whaea Mahadata was finished The people sat down.

After that some kids from the school gave some flower wreaths to some of the men that were there then they put then on some stands or in front of the ship sculpture.

When they had finished with that some music went on then some kids from our school again but different ones put down the flags. Someone said some words then the music went back on then the kids raised the flags again.

When everything was over the priest said a prayer and everyone bowed their heads. Once they were done the visitors went to the staff room to have some drinks and food then we went to break 2.

I enjoyed the part when they put the wreaths on the stands and in front of the ship sculpture. I learnt that the ribbons on the ship meant the waves of the ocean.

Kite making day

On Friday 15th February my class and another class went the hall to make kite's with Tony the Auzzie kite maker. He did an amazing display of his kite then gave us an uneven diamond shape piece of paper to draw on with some pastle. When we were done Tony gave us two different lengths of thin bamboo sticks and tape so we taped them to the back of the kite to make it stable. When we were done with that we got given some rope to put through the hole in the middle then tie around the bamboo on the other side. Afterwards we got given the end of some string then walked to a pole in the room then Tony cut it and we had to tie it around a piece of cardboard that we got.
The end
