Commemoration day

Commemoration day

On Monday the 11th March it was the commemoration day. Whaea Mahadata started a Karanga while some people came through the gates, when Whaea Mahadata was finished The people sat down.

After that some kids from the school gave some flower wreaths to some of the men that were there then they put then on some stands or in front of the ship sculpture.

When they had finished with that some music went on then some kids from our school again but different ones put down the flags. Someone said some words then the music went back on then the kids raised the flags again.

When everything was over the priest said a prayer and everyone bowed their heads. Once they were done the visitors went to the staff room to have some drinks and food then we went to break 2.

I enjoyed the part when they put the wreaths on the stands and in front of the ship sculpture. I learnt that the ribbons on the ship meant the waves of the ocean.
