Capital E

On 14th March on Thursday we went to Wellington for some acts and shows, we went to one in Te papa in the sounding theatre. We went to one in the opera house which was miming and acrobat like stuff and we went to one in Macs Function Centre - Harbour side, it was two people doing some miming.
I'm going to tell you about my favourite one which was the one in Te papa in the sounding theatre, it was called "Troll". We all got comfortable in our seats and we were talking then..... the lights switched of  and the man in the photo started talking telling us a story. He was Otto and he had a grandma living with him called Amma, his sister called Erika and his mum and dad. The story/act is about a boy who notices a new cable but his parents think it's just one he didn't notice, one night he heard scuffling in the walls and scratching . He tells his parents but the just think it's rats or possums. Otto thinks it's something else so he tells his gran and she tells him all about trolls and they turn to stone in the sun so they don't come out at day. She warns him to get rid of the troll before it grows so that the troll doesn't eat him. The story ended with the Gran dead which was sad and the troll full size but turned to stone.

Commemoration day

Commemoration day

On Monday the 11th March it was the commemoration day. Whaea Mahadata started a Karanga while some people came through the gates, when Whaea Mahadata was finished The people sat down.

After that some kids from the school gave some flower wreaths to some of the men that were there then they put then on some stands or in front of the ship sculpture.

When they had finished with that some music went on then some kids from our school again but different ones put down the flags. Someone said some words then the music went back on then the kids raised the flags again.

When everything was over the priest said a prayer and everyone bowed their heads. Once they were done the visitors went to the staff room to have some drinks and food then we went to break 2.

I enjoyed the part when they put the wreaths on the stands and in front of the ship sculpture. I learnt that the ribbons on the ship meant the waves of the ocean.

What I learnt about sentences

Today in class I learnt about how you can change sentences and then they can sound better but when you change it you have to make sure it makes sense.
I enjoyed this lesson it was much fun making sentences with the pieces of paper with Mrs Larnder. :)
